|Day 2||Florence||Arrive Florence, Tuscan Villa-Language Lesson|
Upon arrival in Florence you will be greeted by your Learning Journeys Tour Manager. Off to the rolling hills of Tuscany where you will hear a historical perspective of the region and your Villa. Afternoon language lesson with your tour manager to help you prepare for your journey through Italy. Dinner and overnight at your Tuscan Villa.
After breakfast departure to Florence. Our full day tour starts with a walk through the city center with an introduction to highlights such as to the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore with its golden globe, St. John's Baptistery with Ghiberti's famous bronze doors, the old city hall called Palazzo Vecchio, and the jeweller's bridge of Ponte Vecchio. After, a visit to the Uffizi Gallery. Inside the Uffizi Gallery are the Botticelli Rooms (The Birth of Venus, Pallas and the Centaur, Allegory of Spring, the Annunciation, Madonna of the Pomegranate, Adoration of the Magi and other works by Sandro Botticelli), and The Leonardo Room (Annunciation of the Magi, Adoration of the Magi and other works by Leonardo da Vinci with also other works by Perugino and Luca Signorelli). Visit the Accademia Gallery, to see Michelangelo's statuary masterpiece, the David, and Botticelli's. Madonna and Child. Tonight, enjoy the local charm and cuisine at one of Florence's many restaurants. Overnight at the Villa.
|Day 4||Florence||Florence-Drawing and Painting|
Breakfast at the Villa and transfer to Florence. Exclusive experience: Drawing and painting "en plein air." In the warm weather months, course takes place outside, in the heart of Florence. Students will draw and paint in front of the ancient town hall, the Palazzo Vecchio, or on the unique "old bridge," the Ponte Vecchio. Before we return to the Villa we will stop outside Florence and explore the Piazzale Michelangelo. Offering a splendid panoramic tour of the city's domes and tower, this is a great location to see some of the local artists at work. Dinner and overnight at the Villa.
|Day 5||Pisa and Lucca||Pisa and Lucca|
Breakfast at the Villa and departure to Pisa. Visit the beautiful areas of Piazza del Duomo where the wonderful leaning Tower is located. We continue on to Lucca. Visit San Martino, Lucca's magnificent cathedral and admire the green and white marble facade as well as the Romanesque and Gothic interior. Spend time in San Michele in Foro, a beautiful church with a rich mixture of twisted marble columns and mosaics on the Pisa Romanesque facade. Return to the villa for dinner and overnight.
|Day 6||Rome||Tuscany , Siena, Assisi, Rome|
Today we visit the charming city of Siena for a walking tour through the narrow and winding piazzas. We will also visit Assisi, the quaint hilltop home of St. Francis and St. Clare, city of birds and silence. You have a walking tour of Assisi and visit Santa Maria Degli Angeli in the valley. Arrive in Rome for dinner at a local restaurant and overnight.
Enjoy a special guided tour through the spectacular remains of the Roman Empire. Visit the Coliseum, considered to be the great symbol of Ancient Rome's power and glory. Continue to the Arch of Costantine and to the Roman Forum, which features the remains of magnificent temples, basilicas and triumphal arches that once formed the heart of the Empire. In the afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of Rome including the Trevi Fountain, where it is traditional to toss a coin into the fountain to ensure a safe return to the Eternal city.
|Day 8||Rome||Rome-Drawing and Painting|
Breakfast at the hotel. The morning is dedicated to a visit to the Vatican Museum, home to one of the world's most impressive collections of art. Our tour includes the Raphael rooms and the spectacular Sistine Chapel, highlighted by Michelangelo's ceiling and his Last Judgment. We will continue into St. Peter's Square to visit St. Peter's Basilica, with Michelangelo's Pieta and Bernini's magnificent Baldacchino over the High Altar. Afternoon exclusive experience: Drawing and painting "en plein air"will take place outside, in the heart of Rome, in its picturesque streets. Tonight, a festive farewell dinner, Roman style!
